Champaign County Soil & Water Conservation District Foundation
Est. 2017
The CCSWCD Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization established for charitable, scientific, educational, wildlife, and plant conservation activities related to a productive community in harmony with a quality environment. The CCSWCD Foundation fosters relationships with scientific, educational, and environmental organizations and groups in order to further scientific understanding of ways to preserve the basic natural resources of Champaign County for the economic and social wellbeing of its citizens, and also to increase public understanding and appreciation of the resources in Champaign County, Illinois.
To date, the Foundation has secured funding to allow the District to maintain the St. Joseph Wetland, enhance the STAR Initiative, and provide various education programs and financial incentives to local farmers and landowners. Privately sourced funding allows the Foundation to continue implementing programs.
In January 2023, a beloved member of the CCSWCD & CCSWCD Foundation passed away. In his memory, Kenneth Kesler's family created a memorial fund to support the Kenneth Kesler Education Center at the St. Joseph Wetland. Checks may be made to "Champaign Co. SWCD Foundation" at 2110 W. Park Ct., Suite C, Champaign, IL 61821.
